INsecurity – HOW TO FIND THE SECURITY WITHIN YOU
Insecurity is an emotion that unites us all. It creeps in when we are faced with something new, or when something makes us question our own adequacy. Although insecurity (uncertainty) can feel overwhelming, it is not the enemy – it is an invitation to stop and learn to understand ourselves better.
Often, the root of insecurity is an unconscious fear of failure, of being rejected, or of not being enough as we are. This fear can lead in two directions – either we start avoiding everything that would bring uncertainty to the surface, or we try to compensate for it by overdoing, even beyond our capabilities. Both ways may bring temporary relief, but in the long run they only feed the power of uncertainty and are exhausting. It takes a toll on our emotional well-being. Unfortunately, many times this is only noticed when we are already feeling exhausted and anxious.
As you read this article and recognize that, yes, I notice this kind of uncertainty in myself, what if you turned your gaze inward and asked: What is this uncertainty trying to tell me?
As we learn to listen to our uncertainty without judgment, we begin to see that underneath it is often a longing for security, acceptance, and love—things that we can learn to give ourselves.
HOW TO DEAL WITH INSECURITY GENTLY?
- Stop and breathe. When uncertainty surfaces, take a moment to yourself. Breathe deeply in and out. This will help you calm your body and mind.
- Listen to your feeling. Don’t push the uncertainty away, but ask yourself:
- What do I need right now?
- What would I like to hear right now in this moment of uncertainty
- Speak gently to yourself.
- Treat yourself like your best friend. What would you say to them if they were experiencing uncertainty?
- Now, say those words to yourself.
- Give yourself permission to grow.
Insecurity doesn’t mean you’re weak or a failure – quite the opposite. We all have insecurities at times. Accepting and facing them takes courage and allows us to learn something deeper about ourselves. You don’t have to be perfect to be valuable! Facing uncertainty doesn’t happen perfectly overnight, but every small step is a big victory.👍🏼
You are enough! Every moment of uncertainty is an opportunity to grow stronger, closer to the person you were truly meant to be. ❤️
